Authorities Try to Reach Out to Youth in Africa for Crime Prevention

Kwasi Fori, the Deputy Superintendent of Police and current Director of the Public Relations Department for the Police Headquarters in Ghana has reached out to younger crowds in an attempt to help police lower the crime rate. The reason for this is because younger people tend to contribute more to the crime rate in this area.
By speaking to the youth, Fori is trying to help make sure that they will have a brighter future.
"The number of youth involved in crime and drug related issues is very alarming. Expose criminals in your communities and report all cases that involve crimes", he mentioned.
Fori spoke at a Youth Crime Watch forum about crime prevention in Ghana, or more specifically its capital, Accra. Fori mentioned that the abundance of crime and criminals in the area leads to a decrease in the movement of socio-economic growth within the country. The tranquility and safety in a society like this is also affected. "Without peace and security, we cannot achieve development", Fori said.
The Police Service, Fori mentioned, is a professional facility and it is putting a lot of funds into public education and crime prevention programs that can help keep the youth off of drugs and away from crime and violence. He reached out to the youth to create crime prevention groups within schools and other appropriate places to assist the police in fighting crime.
