Crime Prevention Efforts In Twin Falls, ID
An officer from the Twin Falls Police Department by the name of Luke Allen stated, "I am a one man division right now; hopefully we (will) see through the amount of work that I'm able to do that we can expand and have more people come in the next year." Allen works in the crime prevention unit for the Twin Falls PD.Allen also mentioned that he will be spending more time working with the victims of crimes, rather than the criminals themselves. "The way I look at it, it’s more as education for the community, not so much preventing crimes, but we want to teach people and show how not to become victims of crime and teach them how to avoid victimization."
He says that he will first begin educating children in the public school system. Allen then hopes that the children will relay the information that they have learned to their parents. An important issue that he wants to discuss with the children involves Internet crime. Allen mentions, "Internet crime is one of the things we're going to look at now to avoid becoming a victim on the Internet, through various things that can occur to children."
As a result of Twin Falls' increasing population, many have noticed that there are more and more crimes involving vandalism and damage to property. Allen mentions, "We have a lot of property crimes in this area; I mean, probably one of our biggest things is our property crimes."
