10 Causes of Crime - What Are The Major Influences

10 causes of crimeWhen I hear individuals speak about what they think are the top 10 causes of crime, I do not always hear the same thing. Of course, research will show what are the top 10 causes, but this also depends on what part of the world the crime is occurring in. The top 10 causes of crime in the United States is certainly not going to be the same in Russia or New Zealand.

I recently found a website called Talidari which is an art innovations website but it also has an online literature library. This website had an article that discussed 10 different causes of crime, and I must say that I did not agree with all of them. Some of the causes of crime that I did agree with were poverty, being raised in a dysfunctional family, and growing up fatherless. Of course, one cannot generalize and assume that everyone who is subject to these conditions will become criminals. On the other hand, in many cases it does hold some truth. One of the causes that I really did not feel was necessary in this list was "ecological" factors. The author mentioned that more crimes are committed during summer months when the weather is nice, which is only true to a certain degree. It also mentioned that one of the "hidden consequences of global warming will be an increase in street crime during mild winters." I must say, that I found this statement to be quite comical.

If you want to know the 10 causes of crime, then you first have to narrow it down to a specific geographic location or region. Poverty may be a factor for many large cities, but what about those parts of the world that don't really have much poverty? I would also recommend contacting the department of justice in your state and see if you can acquire any further information through them.

Hi William, here is Talidari, the authors of the article on top 10 causes of crime you mentioned in your post. We just want to comment on some points you raised about it. By the way, this article was done after an extensive research and it doesn't represent authors (ours) narrow view. We might agree with you that one or two mentioned causes make no sense, but then again we don't live in a very logical or rational world, do we? Many things in life don't make sense, but it's ok. That's way we didn't want to make our own limited take on the subject to interfere with the content, instead we wanted to give our readers that what the mainstream researchers have came up so far. The ecological factors were like all the others taken from the scientific reports, written by scholars and experts on the field (police reports), we just re-cloaked it all to be more laymen-friendly. Most of the useful scientific reports are written in a language that doesn't appeal to the broad public, so we wanted to use arts to make the topic more appealing to the non-scientific minds.
Here is one resource with scientific evidences that endorses ecological factor in crimes, elaborating on this largely ignored negative consequence of global warming: http://www.apa.org/monitor/feb98/global.html
Since you didn't agree with the ecological factor, do you have a suggestion for another cause of crime that didn't make it to the list, another cause that should be put there instead of the 'ecological' one?
We love to hear the feedback from our readers, like yourself, and are open to alter any points in our articles that specialists suggest to us. If you revisit our site, you will notice that we updated it, enriching it with your own view.
Here is the page: http://www.talidari.net/10-causes-of-crime.html
By the way, this article is only an appendix to a more important one that offers a crime cure. You might find it to ambitious to call anything a 'crime cure', but we strongly believe that we offer a way out for many criminals, so it's at least a 'cure' for some. We recommend you read the web-book there called 'Jump', which is the meat of our crime cure.
If you have an affiliate program, we could promote your book on our site, but we would like to know more about it, to be sure we are providing the top resource to our readers.
All the best,
Natalija from Talidari team
